Latinas 413 was born in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when isolation threatened the fabric of community. In response, Liliana Atanacio Garcia gathered nearly 200 Latinas in the Berkshires to create a virtual space where immigrant stories, cultural pride, and mutual support could thrive. What started as a grassroots sisterhood quickly evolved—raising $6,100 for families in need, becoming a fiscally sponsored project in 2021, and expanding its mission to empower Latinas in all roles: as leaders, professionals, artists, and entrepreneurs. From bilingual mentorship programs awarding nearly $20,000 in scholarships to “Yo Soy Arte” advocacy for local artists, Latinas 413 has led with trust, belonging, and community care.
Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Latinas 413 is preparing to open its first physical home: CreaHub & MakerSpace at 139 North Street in Pittsfield. This dynamic new space symbolizes years of collective work and the next chapter of connection, creativity, and access. With culturally responsive programs, a Spanish-language book collection, and growing regional partnerships, Latinas 413 continues to break systemic barriers while building bridges of opportunity. What began as a bold call for unity has become a movement—one that invites everyone to grow with it.
